3.8.11 | EngenuitySC's Science Cafe

Join Engenuity SC at the Capital City Club from 6pm-7:30pm to explore the latest ideas in science and technology over coffee or drinks. Join Dr. Jochen Lauterbach, chair of Strategic Approaches to the Generation of Electricity and professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina, for a discussion on the current state of electricity generation in the US and future alternatives. All ages are welcome and no knowledge of power generation is necessary.

34th Annual USC Bands Clinic and Concert Series

The 34th Annual USC Band Clinic will be held February 17-20 on the University of South Carolina campus at the Koger Center for the Performing Arts and the School of Music. The clinic will include performances by the nation's top high school musicians including South Carolina's own Spring Valley High School Symphonic Band and will feature performances by the USC Wind Ensemble conducted by Dr. Scott Weiss, the USC Symphonic Winds conducted by Dr. Rebecca Phillips, the USC University Band conducted by Mr. Steve McKeithen, and the local Palmetto Concert Band conducted by Professor Emeritus James K. Copenhaver, Dr. William Moody, and Dr. Scott Weiss.

Performances begin Friday, February 18 at 7:00pm with the USC Wind Ensemble premiering Steven Bryant's latest work Concerto for Wind Ensemble and continue throughout the weekend.

All concerts are free and open to the public.

26th Annual Carolina/Clemson Blood Drive

What: 26th Annual Carolina/Clemson Blood Drive
All University of South Carolina and Clemson University students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans are encouraged to participate. Blood can be donated at USC or Clemson. All presenting blood donors at the University of South Carolina will receive a commemorative long-sleeve blood drive T-shirt and a variety of free food. The coveted blood drive trophy will be awarded to the winning team at the game on Nov. 27 at “Death Valley” (Clemson Memorial Stadium).

When: November 15-19, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Where: Russell House Ballroom (1400 Greene Street, 2nd Floor)

Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds, are eligible to donate blood.
