Restore Volunteer Opportunity and T-shirt Contest

The Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity Restore is holding a t-shirt design contest! The winner will receive $100 along with their design being featured on a t-shirt! The deadline for entries is November 15, 2010. Check the flier for full details.

The Restore is also looking for volunteers to help staff their store. Volunteer positions include donation pick-up assistant volunteer, receiving assistant volunteer, floor assistant volunteer, cashier volunteer, customer service volunteer, librarian volunteer and house wares volunteer. 11.07.10 | Torch Relay benefiting Palmetto Health Children's Hospital

What, When and Where: The Torch Relay is coming to Columbia on Sunday, November 7 and will be held at Finlay Park.

The best part of this event is that it's coming to Columbia for the second year in a row as part of its 37 city tour and that all funds that are raised in the Columbia event benefit Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, our local Children's Miracle Network hospital.

The goal for EngenuitySC Ignite! 2010 is to celebrate entrepreneurs of every age and to showcase the pathway an entrepreneur travels to build innovative, sustainable enterprises. Speakers for this year's event will range from youth entrepreneurs, to homegrown rock star companies, to innovative "social entrepreneurs" changing the face of Columbia. Ignite! will feature eight 6.5 minute, high-impact presentations to celebrate how entrepreneurship and innovation are changing the landscape of our region.

Additional Info About First Thursdays Series

Arrive early or stay late for the COR Member Meet Up to experience Downtown Columbia's cultural revival, the First Thursdays on Main series. On the first Thursday of each month, Mark Plessinger - owner of eye wear boutique Frame of Mind - works with a number of his artistic cohorts to introduce Columbia's underground art scene to the mainstream community. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and averages 300-500 attendees.
